The largest and the most famous island in Greece. The island has plenty to offer: mountainous landscapes, ...
The island of Ithaki, is a unique place in many ways. Ithaki is “the diamond of the Ionian”. The lush vegetation that is covering most of the island, embraces the numerous beaches, while scattered houses emerge here and there. Its numerous high and not so high hills, within a small area, create breathtaking views and a dramatic landscape. Mass tourism and development in a big scale has not reached Ithaki. All the villages have changed very little through time, and the houses have to obey strict laws during construction, rendering them aesthetically compatible with the traditional characteristics of the area. It is the visitor seeking privacy, contact with nature and old traditions, who is rewarded most. The ambience of the islands’ history is composed by its intimacy and picturesque nature.
Situated in the centre of the Ionian Sea, Ithaki offers a great advantage in exploring the neighbouring islands. There are many beaches in close proximity, some of which are considered among the best in Greece, which require no more than half an hour’s boat ride to reach, a charming experience in itself.
Besides all the sea related activities offered in the summer, there is an extended network of cleared “old paths”, offered for hiking in the not so hot periods of the year.
